A continuation of the coverage (with the Junior's LDL at the bottom) during the early morning hours of Jan 22, 2008 during The Weather Channel's network outage.
This segment is Kim Perez and Heather Tesch doing the national segments (satellite is edited out; see part 1 for the satellite broadcast with LDL)
Short clip from the show "Code 3" which aired in the early 1990s. This video was the famous Kansas Underpass tornado, where a news crew shooting a tornado takes refuge under the girders of an underpass while the tornado passes nearby.
WPXI's coverage of the Superstorm of '93 which dumped several inches of snow on the East Coast. Included is a segment on conditions around the area and a brief weather report by Dennis Bowman.
Margaret Shortridge anchors.
Every time there's a severe thunderstorm warning for Allegheny County PA or surrounding counties, we get one of these. Doesn't it sound like the end of the world? Anyways this only shows up on the boxes hooked to digital cable (and the LED On the front of the box shows EAS on it)
Well, here in Evansville, IN (you can hear a siren from across the Ohio in Henderson, KY) during Severe Thunderstorm Warnings, the EMA sounds the tornado sirens for about 3 minutes at a time. (Don't ask why). Yours truly narrates.
Basically my first on-air experience from Penn State's Campus Weather Service video Branch.
Ironically, this forecast comes on a day where the biggest storm to date for 2007 has hit.
The WeatherSTAR XL version 2 with the local forecast for Allegheny Airport/Pittsburgh PA for Feb 13 2003. This was the night before the Presidents' Day Storm of 2003 which dumped nearly a foot of snow in Pittsburgh and much more elsewhere.
At Penn State football games, the song "Hey, Hey Baby" is sung by the student section between the third and fourth quarters. This recording was done at the PSU vs. Wisconsin game on October 13, 2007
Some of you may be surprised that The Weather Channel still allows usage of old Local Forecast equipment, but here is a look of how well some of the WeatherSTARs have held up. This one is from a hotel I stayed at shortly just outside State College (and I couldn't hook up my DVR to the TV without causing damage - this is a cam rip.
Enjoy!
Basically the same as last one, except some alterations made.
*Changed logo in top left (removed white box)
*Removed Dover, DE from Regional list.
*Changed Baltimore to Washington DC.
*Moved some cities on map around to more accurately reflect geographic presence.
Song is "Jingle Bell Rock", Kenny G.
Another EAS advisory on Comcast Cable, this time for Allegheny County (Pittsburgh), PA, from June 2007. I included a small clip of WTAE's special report at the beginning, where meteorologist Stephen Cropper re-iterated the warning.
The flicker during the taping was a brief power outage (I live in Baldwin, one of the places mentioned, and the storm was almost directly overhead at the time).
The National Anthem at the Penn State versus Ohio State game at the Bryce Jordan Center, January 29, 2008. This game was the Perfect 10 game, where if 10,000 student tickets were sold, all ticket sales for the next game would go to charity.
1 minute flavor of the WeatherSTAR 4000 in Allegheny Arpt (Pittsburgh) PA from the night before the arrival of the historic "Superstorm of '93". Note the blizzard warning. Dan Chandler narrates.
